FHE Thought 03/01/10 - Good Works
...As Latter-day Saints we are committed to do things that will accomplish much good in this world and in the world to come....
...May, therefore, those who presently suffer from logokophosis, the inability to hear or understand spoken directions, through their own prayerful efforts and under divine inspiration, find the cure for it and be healed and enjoy greater happiness in this life and in the life to come."

Grace for Those Who Are Humble
Grace for Those Who Are Humble
"Should there be anyone who feels he is too weak to do better because of that greatest of fears, the fear of failure, there is no more comforting assurance to be had than the words of the Lord: 'My grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them' (Ether 12:27)."

God's Perfect Love
“Joseph Smith taught that God ‘institute[d] laws whereby [the spirits that He would send into the world] could have a privilege to advance like himself’ (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith [2007], 210). God’s love is so perfect that He lovingly requires us to obey His commandments because He knows that only through obedience to His laws can we become perfect, as He is. For this reason, God’s anger and His wrath are not a contradiction of His love but an evidence of His love. Every parent knows that you can love a child totally and completely while still being creatively angry and disappointed at that child’s self-defeating behavior.” Dallin H. Oaks, “Love and Law,” Ensign, Nov. 2009, 27 |

FHE: The Importance of Family
There is nothing more important to me than family. Way, way back when I was a little shaver our family did everything together. We didn’t have a TV for the longest time so we had to do things together. We played games, camped, hiked. Even though we didn’t always see eye to eye we still showed love and respect to each other, especially to our parents. But, I think that going though that time as a kid taught me the importance of Family. We were always there for each other in anything we were doing. I remember wrestling on the JV team and my brother, Chuck was a HUGE wrestling star and a varsity captain on the team but he would always wait until I had wrestled before he went into the locker room to dress out and get ready for his own match.
So when I got married I too wanted to have a close family and I really feel we do. I know in my heart that if any of us were in a jam and really needed help we would all come running. Now even though I feel we had a very close family when I was growing up, something was missing. The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
With the Lord, families are essential. He created the earth that we could gain physical bodies and form families. He established His Church to exalt families. He provides temples so that families can be together forever. Russell M. Nelson, “‘Set in Order Thy House’,” Ensign, Nov 2001, 69
It is so important to keep the Lord in our lives. Our Stake President has incorportated a “Seven Simple Things” that families can do to stay connected with the Gospel. 1) Read the scriptures daily individually, 2) Read the scriptures together as a family daily 3) Pray together as a family morning and night 4) Personal Prayers morning and night 5) Attend Church as a family 6) Hold FHE every week and 7) attend the Temple monthly. Constant effort on these simple things can help us all stay on track with the Lord and each other.
Again, there is nothing more important than all of you, my family. Love you all. Dad
